Hold on! What business is it of the professional regulator if a lawyer says stupid and offensive things. It does not bring the profession into disrepute, it brings the author into disrepute.

This is a completely improper use of the "disrepute" provision. If a solicitor acts in their professional capacity in way that brings the profession into disrepute, that is another matter – for example, libelling the judiciary, opponents, etc.

This particular solicitor is shown up as a bigot and a dope. Why on earth does that justify removing her livelihood for 18 months and slugging her with a costs order for £11,000?

If she was a member of a political party that may be institutionally anti-Semitic, and her Twitter quotes had been on a party twitterfeed, would that be censured? It would be the exercise of offensive free speech. Solicitors are as free as anyone else to make political comment.

And so what if some reader was offended? "Grow up, snowflake" would seem the appropriate answer.
