I see that the SRA have alighted upon the mainstay of police Professional Standards Departments in this country. The trawl through social media for offensive tweets and posts. It is shooting fish im a barrel. However, in this case I read the judgment and thought the tweets quoted went beyond the social norms of the 71 year old Respondent's youth. I was particularly disturbed by the apparent embracing of a pernicious conspiracy theory and of internment based on religion. I note that the SDT said that despite the Respondent’s role and despite her comments about insight and remorse, she was unable to say when questioned that she did not or would not discriminate against individuals based on their appearance. This goes beyond acceptable in my book and merits the punishment.
