I've just picked up this story and this thread.

What she said and the number of times she said it was undoubtedly offensive to probably the majority of people and, if it wasn't, it should have been.

That said, it came from her personal, not firm's account and therefore, if she was not criminally prosecuted for it, my view is that it was no business of the SRA.

I also found what Boris Johnson said silly and offensive but I do not agree with those calling for him to apologise for saying it. He's entitled to express his opinion, buffoon-ish or not.

Freedom of speech is incredibly precious. Lawyers, more than anyone, need to push back hard against those who would seek to curtail it. Freedom to only say that which the majority agree with is no freedom at all.
