Hate is increasing and directed against persons perceived to be not the norm etc. Look at Twitter and the internet for multitudes of examples. If it causes people to think twice before hurling personal attacks or insults then it may stop such hate escalating into something more dangerous. I in no way deplore individual views or beliefs but there is a way of expressing them and some of the ways caught by this aren't acceptable in any civilized society.
