Dr Bawa-Garba did not make a "tragic mistake" . A jury found that she was grossly negligent leading to the death of a child. (Clearly she was in an invidious position) The Court of Criminal Appeal refused to overturn that verdict. In my view Dr Bawa-Garba's fitness to practice is a matter for the medical regulators but we lawyers can be grateful that none of us is ever likely to face a charge of gross negligence manslaughter arising out of our professional duties. I agree with Anon 14.16 below says this article wrongly conflates two differentiate concepts.
