As a happy legal ‘has been’ I’m somewhat bemused by the new forms of address acceptable in the profession in the new electronic age. I see that the current fashion in the Gazette is to refer to your professional colleagues as ‘Scruff’, which brings to mind a small terrier I once owned. Ever willing to learn and keep abreast of developments I researched this form of address of the interweb in the ‘Urbane Dictionary’, as my ‘Chambers’ and ‘Collins’ are somewhat dated. It appears that ‘Scruff’ is an electronic matching system for young gay men and “chasers in your neihbourhood (sic)”.
May I ask: are the correspondents mistakenly emailing to the wrong publication …………………. or am I?
