The bigger question is why people would invest in PI at this time. I do not buy into the commentators saying their is value in the data or client list. I doubt they would be able to use it anyway following the DPA 2018. For me the answer is that there is too much money swilling around creating assets bubbles in such things as art, houses, shares, footballers etc. This to me is another example of too much money chasing too few assets. Size and investment in IT will not protect you against what is about to hit in the form of the Civil Liability Act. I actually think the only firms which will survive will be the smaller ones operating on a local level not the behemoths envisaged by Simpson Millar. They will just go pop louder when the Act comes into force.
