I have no desire to assist terrorists or OCG members or anyone else. I take my obligations very seriously.
We had one matter where the activity between parties was suspicious. I couldn't put my finger on it precisely.
I reported the names and accounts to NCA only to be told that as I hadn't stated what suspicious activity I was attempting to identify I would be reported to the SRA. I thought "well up you!!"
If I'm walking past a house and I see a shadowy figure with a lamp going from room to room I don't when ringing the Police on 999 have to state precisely what crime I think the person might be committing (although I know in practice no-one from the Police will attend).
The NCA persists in saying "I think lawyers can do more" without saying why or which firms are not or without any real detail.
The reporting system needs to be overhauled.
The NCA need to get a grip.
Our politicians need to legislate properly.
The SRA needs to worry less about the publication of "prices" and instead check that every conveyancing firm understands its AML obligations.
