I can see how if you need forensic accountants, reconstruction of ledgers, forensic document examination and evidence as to signatures, examination of computer records and meta data, review of lots of documents, taking witness statements and so on the costs can build significantly. However none of this appears to be a likely feature of this case.

Could it be impertinent to suggest that the SRA conduct a best value tender process in line with the usual principles?
