What that means is that the firm acts under a CFA. They get their £500 and regardless of whatever work is done they charge the success fee and deduct the maximum 25%.

But, and here is the interesting part, a firm can say that they will apply their standard charges at SCCO rates, they will give credit for costs received from the paying party, but they can limit the costs the client has to pay to no more than 25% of damages. No success fees so no arguments. If the work done is £500 then the claimant loses nothing and so on.

How about us - £12,000 WIP on 1 claim and we get £500. No success fee charged. We cannot survive like that because we do not get the smooth along with the rough as we do not do bulk RTA work. Would you begrudge us actually charging the client something?
