Anon 17:19, I am Anon 16:36 and I would love criminal lawyers to be paid the sensible rate that their services, skill and training deserve. The point that I was making is that this smacks of political opportunism in the midst of the Conference season with opposition parties smelling blood and circling for a general election.

Don’t forget the uncosted promises made in the run up to the last election and the false promises (on both sides) made during the Brexit Referendum, not to mention the last Labour Government’s final message, ‘there is no more money’.

Expect more offers of free sweeties from ALL of the political parties as they posture and position themselves for the next election.
