I have no sympathy for Mr Beech, having had the pleasure of clearing up some of his former 'handy-work' on an estate. Surely after such an illustrious career Mr Beech had sufficient experience and intelligence to understand his obligations and those that he owed to his clients. I do, however, have sympathy with my brethren who must pick up the bill for costs that Mr Beech has made necessary. We are officers of the Court, we have fundamental duties and responsibilities to our clients, to the general public and to our profession - or is that now all meaningless? How can we promote public confidence in our professional standards?
