Sadly, the SRA continues to provide evidence to a resentful profession (yes, I know, but it makes me feel better) that its own regulator is engaged in regulatory activity of the worst kind.

I simply do not believe that large parts of the population lay awake at night, agonising over a perception of “structural bias” within the SDT.

The Legal Services Act resulted in a host of intended, but also unintended consequences.

Whatever the policy driving the Act, it represented flawed thinking, and the SRA being created, but still remaining part of our own professional body, was a fundamental error.

The arrangements for regulation of solicitors need to be urgently revisited, otherwise the Law Society will continue with its drift into irrelevance.
