The comment about the Silk firm and what the entity is should be made clearer by the SRA.

For the moment I will remain as a one person solicitors' firm (literally one person) regulated but only about 1% or less reserved work. In fact this year I have not had any litigation getting close to a trial as I keep clients away from court where possible in their own interests so I am not even sure if keeping my right to do reserved activities is sensible given the massive cost of compulsory £2m insurance (never had a claim in 20 years and could have bought a house with the premia!) and £1k+ a year Law Soc fee.

I have started making it clearer to clients and on my website that I am regulated, that I am a solicitor, that I can provide reserved activites reserved only for solicitors as I don't think many clients are aware of these things and tihnk the word lawyer is the same as solicitor.

An advertising campgian by Law Soc of SRA showing Mr Smith not a legal qualification to his name or perhaps law degree form an ex poly of 20 years before who is allowed to call himself lawyer perhaps showing his client doing badly compared with Mr Jones who is a solicitor and does well for his client and has gone through the very difficult process of passing the exams, finding a training contract, learning his profession working in a solicitors' firm etc.
