I am all for "crackdowns", as long as they are proper ones and not just another load of bull trotted out for effect. I see that the police are going to spend more time on the big fish in future rather than the small fry, so let's hope that Mr Wallace instructs his new "national economic crime centre" to do the same. For the avoidance of doubt, an example of a big fish would be a large City (or other) firm acting for a Russian oligarch or Saudi prince buying a multi-million pound property. Small fry would be a firm acting on a house purchase for someone who had a record for petty theft. I see that they are also going to target Public Schools; I was once told by the head of a well-known public school (just after the iron curtain came down) that he was off to Russia to drum up business. Perhaps all of those who run our fee-paying schools should take a long hard look at themselves; people may recall a Russian girl at St Peter's York being murdered in a contract-style killing after returning to Russia.
