It will be interesting to see how the Court Service use this extra revenue. If it will be used to roll out the planned new online probate application service, then this should provide welcome funds and should improve the service to users of the probate service. My fear, though, is that the extra funds will just be used to fund the wider Court Service, with the online application service being used as an excuse to close District Probate Registries, especially once the statement of truth replaces the requirement to swear an oath.
