""The lack of diversity within senior law firm roles is contributing to fewer women applying to become a judge", the lord chancellor has warned".

Really?

Or maybe it is the lack of success of virtually any solicitor - man or woman - for judicial appointment that is putting them off applying. I know several very well qualified solicitors who have applied, and who everyone but the JAC seems to think would make excellent judges, and none of them get anywhere. We can read statistics and we are not stupid. So why would any solicitor bother applying for judicial appointment? Mug's game!

If this solicitor Lord Chancellor really wants to do something to support solicitor applicants for judicial appointment then he should abolish the JAC because while it still remains we are going to be stuck with the status quo forevermore.
