The Law Society slowly evolving from its 19th Century origins, is perhaps suffering from an over complex management structure?

Many of its committees work quietly, to undertake the unsung work of the Society, checking legislation, making recommendations and much else besides. This is very commendable.

However, as I understand it, we now have in addition to these numerous committees and the Council, a Law Society Board. We also have, or did have, regional offices.

I suspect that solicitors, unless active in their local law societies, have little idea (as the case may be) what is being achieved or is not achieved on their behalf, other than via the medium of the LSG.

The problem is that there have been numerous opportunities which sadly have been missed, for the Law Society to fight back against the decline of everything solicitors hold dear in our legal system.

This means that solicitors must campaign, rather than rely on past glories, to pressure politicians and educate the public, that once the Rule of Law has been neutered, or at the very least severely weakened, or once conveyancing and probate has been so dumbed down to resemble the operation of the latest computer game, then we will all suffer.

So, it is not just the High Street which could end up on its knees.
