It is harsh and I rarely agree with the SRA but in these cases it is also the correct and only possible outcome. Solicitors hold positions of great trust and whatever the reason there can be no room in the profession for solicitors who are willing to act dishonestly in order to cover up mistakes. Of course there are times when we are all under pressure, but that does not mean that fabricating, or backdating, documents can ever be an acceptable response. A tough lesson for the individuals concerned but all of them had quite a lot of experience. Ms MacGregor qualified in 1991, Mr Naylor in 2006 and Ms James in 2010 so really they should all have known that what their way out of trouble was very wrong.
