"If you judge success from how much money you make in life ( I don't) I know of one gentleman who went to a local school and a polytechnic, but is now an extremely successful lawyer. He has his own practice and is a multi millionaire! He earns more than most lawyers in the country. "

I'll bet a pound to a penny that his practice is in personal injury. It's where most of the working class solicitors who don't do criminal law end up.

It's an area of practice well-suited to those of `flexible' ethical standards that being brought up in a dog eat dog world tends to encourage.

It's been all too easy to make a fortune in PI provided you were prepared to adopt a market trader mentality and forget anything you were ever told about professionalism. Again, this is second nature to many solicitors from a rough background, who revelled in what amounted to a licence to print money by scamming insurers.

It was really just following in the family tradition, the only difference being that while the lads were getting awards for PI Practice of the Year their dads were still languishing in Strangeways!
