In response to @Patrick Stevens I suspect a large number are very small pocket knives. Although MoJ staff at time I entered the Probate Court in Holborn a few years ago, via the public entrance, to lodge papers for my partner's mothers will. A tiny penknife, blade barely an inch, showed up when they x-rayed my briefcase. Confiscated and I had to write in and request it's return. Took about six weeks to get it back.
