By what authority are legal knives being seized? If under 3" in length, with a non-locking blade they are perfectly legal to carry. Sure, they may not be permitted on Court premises (and therefore your entrance refused) but that does not give someone any legal authority to seize your property!

I had a farmer client turn up a County Court a couple of years ago who was stopped by security because he had a small penknife on him. Quite sensibly he was allowed to go back to his car and leave it in the glove box before then being admitted. Does anyone know what law has been passed that enables (private) Court security to take your legally held property from you?
