When someone takes a stand against something then they will be subject to opposition, even hate. That is not a good reason to give something up that you use as a medium for what you do.

Next you will argue that he brought it upon himself. Possibly, but the world needs people to stand up for what is right and just. That he responded simply proved that he is human.
