I was concerned that the SDT chairman commented “I am not Jewish myself and therefore do not understand...”. Either a judge understands the issues before him or should recuse himself from acting. Imagine saying “I am not a woman/black/Muslim etc”. The fact that he expressed a lack of knowledge is very concerning. The admission by the Chairman made a mockery of justice being seen to be done, it had to be seen to be believed.

The lack of disclosure by the SRA of context added to the farce of the show trial.

One hopes that Mr Lewis’s clients get a better quality of justice than the injustice he got.

The fact that Mr Chesterton repeatedly asked why it was necessary to confront Nazis shows a lack of knowledge of the reason why it is necessary to speak out. Pastor Niemoller’s famous poem comes to mind “when they came for the Jews I did not speak out because I was not Jewish....”. All evil should always be confronted. The Tribunal’s failure was a warning to Jews that they must not complain. That compelled silence causes death.
