The suggestion was made downthread that letters to MPs may be in order here. I think that has to be right. This would seem an appropriate point at which the regulator should itself experience inquisition and oversight. It too should be required to account for itself. Parliament seems ideally placed to bring this dangerous dog to heel.

My email to my MP identified the twin concerns of the SRA's public interest test, and their failure to consider the messages to which ML was responding. (The latter point seems weaker, given the strict liability flavour of the beast). My email was predicated on the fear that the regulator itself had not only failed to uphold, but in fact irrevocably undermined the confidence many of the public used to place in this vital profession.

I urge others to do the same.
