The only litigants who have cause to fear an inquisitorial system are those who worry that forensic inquiry might reveal something unhelpful about their case, which hitherto they have concealed, and thus want to use a professional 'champion' to keep it that way and bludgeon their way to success. The adversarial system is the outmoded relic of a bygone age used by those who do not want to move into a modern, civilised present.
