I totally agree with all of the comments of Anonymous @18:11 on 7 December. For some years I have encountered firms who have inter alia: lied to me (even in writing); refused to accept a written undertaking from a CQS firm's SRO; portrayed another firm's email address as their own; given undertakings and then withdrawn them saying the person giving them was not authorised to do so; displayed gross incompetence; and shown ignorance of basic conveyancing procedures. These examples include partners and heads of department. The SRA seems not to care. No discernible result of my complaints to the Law Society CQS has been evident. Unless the Law Society removes firms who flagrantly breach its rules from the CQS, instead of just asking them to improve, I doubt much will change. I encounter incompetence on a weekly basis and am lied to a number of times every year by other law firms. The state of conveyancing standards in many CQS accredited firms is truly deplorable. If the Law Society really wanted the CQS to be a true quality standard, it would remove accreditation from a (probably quite large) number of those who flaunt its badge.
