You'd have thought the previous warning would have been heeded. If these proposals go through, it could - depending on value - amount to a triple tax on a deceased person's estate - the assets will have been funded out of taxed income, inheritance tax may also be payable, and the proposed probate fees (which must far outweigh the costs of providing the service) would in practice be a third "tax". No doubt the next step will be a "revision" of lifetime gift rules, to prevent dissipation of assets in order to reduce the probate fee liability...
