Perhaps if Labour hadn't overspent to the stratosphere in the first place, these taxes would all have been unnecessary. It should be illegal for governments to spend money they don't have (unless exceptional circumstances demand it such as wartime). The National Debt has been a permanent feature since Waterloo or even earlier. Outlaw it.
