There are alternative scenarios to the ones you paint. Take your point 1, for example. There are many reasons why remain might prevail, and that don't involve any leavers abstaining. There are people who may have changed their minds about wanting to leave. There are people who didn't vote at all last time (many millions of them) and who may now feel that they would like to have a say in what happens next.

I don't understand your point 2. You accept that we have no viable plan, and I assume that you don't dispute the government's concession that any type of Brexit at all is going to be economically injurious to the country in the short and medium term. Neither of these points were made clear before the 2016 vote. Indeed, the very opposite was argued by the leave campaign.

If you still believe that it is better to go with "no plan" (your words) than to seek the public's view of no plan, suggests to me that you're letting your ideology get in the way of the country's interests.

You seem to be advocating Brexit at any cost. Would that be a fair assessment of your position?
