How do you “buy” files?!

Clients instruct solicitors in a relationship of mutual trust and confidence.

In a post GDPR era are they really going to pour over another firm’s client files which contain highly confidential and personal medical records and reports?

Is a solicitor going to allow them to do this?

Sorry but it’s not acceptable on any level. It is a gross intrusion of privacy. And the SRA appear to rubber stamp this in insolvency situations. If I were a client I would be outraged at such conduct. Who is being allowed to review my file? It might even be someone I know.

The commoditisation of personal injury work is grotesque. Many PI lawyers seem to have lost all understanding of their duty of confidentiality.
