I copy my clients in on all correspondence (and the estate agent where appropriate). The respective performance of the two sides then speaks for itself and if the recipients pass the information on to the other party it often works wonders in resolving problems - especially when their own conveyancer has not followed their instructions and/or blatantly lied to them, which sadly is not as rare as it should be. This approach avoids requests for updates, works well as a "marketing tool" and has led to some interesting feedback from the agents and my clients on the outcome on the other side. Word soon gets around.
