Hmm, in view of what you say, anon @ 14:51, I think that I had better cease practising because I cannot say, with certainty, that my clients might not have 'a claim' against me in any of the cases I am handling at present. I say that because I cannot guarantee, in any dispute resolution, that the outcome will be that which the client wants and when the outcome is not that which a client wants, frequently the client considers that someone else is to blame for this and not infrequently his/her solicitor is the most proximate scapegoat. Thus in such cases the client often will make a claim - or, at least, a complaint - about the outcome and aver that his/her solicitor is to blame for that, even if there is no merit whatsoever in this assertion. But whatever I may think about its merit, it is 'a claim' - based on the Howell Jones/Client A factual analysis by the SRA . I shall now start writing letters to my clients explaining why no longer am I able to act for them .....
