Looks like my earlier surmisal was wrong and these crimes were committed when there were other partners. An article in www.newsandstar.co.uk (incorporating Cumberland News) just rather spookily popped up on my phone which explains that sadly the firm could not survive once this conduct became apparent to them and the authorities.
