Clients by and large are fully compensated. But the perception that 'solicitors are all alike' or 'have their hands in the till' or 'get away with it' is peddled by lazy media and lapped up by a gullible public.

We are not a profession of fly by nights which leaves clients in the lurch financially even if neither you or I bear any responsibility whatsoever for thieves.

Maybe the Law Society could push this point?

Why not headlines saying

'Solicitors' Indemnity Fund rallies to the aid of victim of thievery'?

It may be a philosophical question but when does a solicitor stop being 'a solicitor'. I would suggest when he/she becomes a thief.
