I work for a defendant insurance firm (shock horror) as a cost draftsman, before that I worked for an external cost drafting firm so I have seen costs coming in from various Claimant firms from around the country. I agree with some points below re the North West firms. I have seen some awful costs claims from certain firms in the North West and it is those types of claims for costs and budgets put forward, coupled with this type of activities that have allowed insurers to say look at this smoke, there must be a fire. There are a lot of people who post on this site saying that all the recent changes are because of the insurers, but unfortunately there are some Claimant firms that have provided the ammunition to assist in driving the changes through.

I say this with some regret because the changes may well adversely affect me to.
