I’m guessing you weren’t around in the good old days before CFAs, fixed costs and all that.

Many many times cases were put on hold to see if the prognosis was correct. Physio arranged via GPs or defendant insurers if needed. Not always of course - no matter the advice sometimes folks just wanted a case wrapped up. That still happens in any type of case.

In the good old days the straightforward RTA justified maybe £1,500 costs if that. No recoverable success fee or ATE of course. Send a schedule of costs and time break down off and the insurers paid up - all above board.

Then the rot started, all commenced by government tinkering and insurer input. Go look at root causes if you want to point a finger - every infection needs a way in.
