It might just be me being far too cynical, but I've always harboured a possibly unhealthy distrust of people who say 'annual leave' instead of 'holiday'. They are generally the same people who will say 'going forward' instead of 'from now on'. In writing, they will refer to 'myself' rather than 'me' or 'I' because despite being wrong they think it sounds more formal. They tend to be fond of enclosing things herewith, or attaching things hereto. When they go to a pub, they will say 'Can I get a...?', overlooking the fact that they are not American, and are in fact talking to the person who will be doing the getting.

I do not like these people. These people are not to be trusted.
