If you want to engage in a civil court process CPR PD16 para 2.2 provides that the claim form must include an address at which the claimant resides or carries on business. This paragraph applies even though the claimant's address for service is that of his solicitor.

One wonders why there is not a similar constraint in criminal proceedings, assuming that the launch of an appeal is a new process and not a continuation of the process in the Court below in which the individual was already engaged (which I assume concluded when leave to appeal was refused)

It is simply an offence to common sense that an individual can on the one hand put himself beyond the jurisdiction of the Court and on the other hand seek to invoke the jurisdiction of the Court.

I hasten to say I speak as a civil lawyer, with apologies to criminal practitioners to whom the answer to the above is obvious
