I think it’s fair to say Mr Mercer doesn’t fully understand the English law of tort.
He may have been an excellent Officer. He may even be a good MP. But he was grandstanding for the benefit of those ex Soldiers who cannot accept that soldiers broke the law. One of the other MPs asked the Solicitor “so have you been to Iraq?”. He said no and indicated he hadn’t been and wasn’t likely to go. MP says “so you’ve made £11000000 out of this and you haven’t even visited and don’t intend to visit the Country any time soon!!”.
This was a witch hunt organised by fools to impress an audience that had already made up its mind. Check out Mr Mercer’s twitter account for examples.
