I know many solicitors who I would not trust to sit the right way on a lavatory ditto legal execs. By the same token I know reps of both, and of unqualified lawyers who are excellent. These labels are effectively meaningless. It's the quality of work and client care that counts. As far as the public are concerned Barristers are the real lawyers, solicitors being rather second best. Legal Execs should be proud of their body and their standards. What do they mean by "parity"? Do they wish to be called solicitors ? Do they want to wear horsehair wigs ? Perhaps we should all be allowed to wear wigs. The Solicitors can have a pink rinse and Cilex a pretty shade of lilac. It's the work that matters. Everything else is just garbage.
