Far from demonstrating professional snobbery (aka maintaining standards and protecting the solicitor "brand"), the route to qualification as a solicitor is fairly easy and so those opting for CILEx should not feel in any way the poor relation, it is open to everybody.

Simply sit A-levels or equivalent in order to get a place at university with a good law school. Gain a degree, work and life experience and LPC which means your CV is not instantly tossed into the bin with 95% of the other applications for TCs. Then, work for 2 years being a glorified slave before you qualify on a very unexciting salary whilst paying off your student loan and law school debts.

Then be told that the CILEx that didn't have to follow the same process is as good as you.

Great, why bother.

Also, CILEx, the fact that some of you found the qualifying exams for CILEx difficult does not necessarily mean these exams reached the same standard as those for solicitor qualification; simply that you found them difficult.
