Okay, as a solicitor that had to grind through the Finals in some dismal building in London over six (or was it six hundred?) horrid days I should stand firm with my colleague professionals...BUT.. some of the shrewdest and sharpest legal practitioners I knew were without formal qualifications and some of the most inept boasted a LLb and were qualified solicitors. At the close of my legal life I worked with and "supervised" some paralegals (who then qualified as Licensed Conveyancers) who could run rings around many solicitors. Ability before labels!
