Just read another comment that CILEx are typically people who have no A levels and were in admin roles within their law firms. It was then said that these people don't go on to finish the course.
This may be the case but myself (and I personally know a few others) did achieve good A level results and had offers from universities in the top 10 charts for Law.
I chose to turn down those universities to follow the CILEx route. For three years I’ve earned a good salary and have gained invaluable experience in my field. I’m now due to qualify as a lawyer in just over two years time.
It’s not been easy at all, coming home from a tough day in the office and having to pick up the books but it’s the path I chose therefore I don’t moan.
My peers are struggling when they come out of university to secure paralegal roles and training contracts, so I don’t regret the decision I made three years ago.
I have experienced “snobbery” with regards to my route but I’ve also had a lot of support from solicitors and barristers.
As more people like myself start to qualify then I’m hoping that opinions and the traditions will change.
