"It's a strange world, where an English solicitor has a duty to know who the daughters of the President of Azerbaijan are, and indeed who the various relatives of all sorts of high up (and maybe even not so high up) people are in countries all around the world." Not true. Any decent online ID check would have flagged them up as PEPs and when you are dealing with potential clients who are unknown and from countries such as Azerbaijan, it's our duty to check and verify them first.
