Yet not all dictatorships are so grim. For example Singapore has gone from strength to strength as a result of the works of really one man - Lee Kuan Yew.

To quote Wikipedia:
On 23 March 2015, Lee Kuan Yew died of pneumonia, at 91. In a week of national mourning, 1.7 million residents and guests paid tribute to him at his lying-in-state at Parliament House and at community tribute sites around the island.

I was there at the time and from the top of 'The Altitude' saw with my own eyes what I understand to be about 8 miles of people queuing round all the streets to pay their respects.

Who says dictatorships are always bad news!
