A very loud and clear message for all concerned.

If you act in a dishonest manner do not expect to remain part of the profession so while it does appear harsh for the trainee I have to say it was the right decision. There is no place in the profession for the dishonest and this is for the benefit of the public as well as the profession itself.

The trainee could have simply rang the ethics guideline for help and assistance as soon as she was asked to undertake a dishonest action for guidance.

Having heard how the SRA ignore reports of dishonesty from solicitors it is questionable if the SRA would have acted, but at least she could have protected herself and her career .
