I am a little puzzled at the references in the comments to 'a mistake'. How is this a mistake? He didn't forget to tap out, or accidentally get carried past his station.
He made a deliberate choice, over an extended period of time, to behave in a way which he knew was dishonest.
I think a striking off was inevitable.
I think it is possible to have a lot of sympathy for those who make genuine mistakes, or who are put under pressure by employers or health issues, but he doesn't seem to have had any of those underlying reasons which might have mitigated his actions.
