This is not comparing like with like. While I have sympathy with criminal law junior counsel regarding their renumeration rates, the CPS position advertised is a management job with responsibility for hundreds of staff including lawyers, often senior lawyers. I assume that independent barristers choose their vocation partly because, like most of us, they do not want to have such management duties.
