I don't recall this much Parliamentary concern when the issue fee in civil claims was increased to £10k. In the view of some MPs that increase would put an end to ambulance chasing. However the probate fee increase could impact upon MPs and their families hence the flurry of activity (I suspect).

I also suspect that we will see yet more fee remission applications if this SI is passed - that clearly isn't factored into the £145m revenue projection. As things stand, just because there is money in the Estate doesn't mean that the Executor won't qualify for a fee exemption.
